rhodes lifters

Ok, and then I said I hadn't heard of them and had no idea they even existed.....

So, recommended for Hydraulic rollers..... Think I'd probably one to speak to someone in their tech department and see what the negatives are when running them with a solid roller cam..... So little friction and wear with a roller.....dunno what the negative side effects might be running them on a solid roller but definitely worth checking into.... Could "cam up" for the top end with a solid roller, then let the hydraulics put a little bottom and mid back in maybe???????

Sounds like it might work. I will email them tonight. Thanks for all the help! Any thoughts on the cannister as I also run a 400 sbc that has problems pulling ? The thing seems to pull more vac when hot.

i would not run a hyd on a solid roller cam they are heavy heavy if a small roller ok but you will have to run a rev kit on the lifters to hold them on the cam this i do know you will beat the lifter to hell much better getting the cam ground the way you want the first place i a mud truck you will have to be on top of your valves springs or bad things will happen

Yeah, think you're right Pat... Thought it might be something to look into, guess I'll just stick with the solid rollers.....Less stuff to break or go bad anyway.....Spend all the money to lighten up the valve train, then put in a big heavy set of lifters would kind of be offsetting.....


Anyway, back to the original question.... Depends on how you want to run the engine, if you're going for good low and mid range power, a good hydraulic roller would do fine, then with the Rhodes lifters, if they will in fact pick up the vacuum as advertised, you might be ok... Depends on how much vacuum you have to pull. Sounds like a good discussion item with one of the cam companies Tech Reps!!!!! If you tell him what's in your engine now, and how much vacuum you have to pull he should be able to come up with just the right grind.....

Also planning on Patriot heads,RPM air gap w/1000 Speed Demon, JE forged pistons with around 13:1 comp. Any ideas on tq #s?

i have used howards cams there ok but i would look at erson cams tell them what you want

Yup, that would be a dang good plan!!!!!! Sure be a shame to rap up all that money in cam and lifters, then not get the vacuum you need, or wose yet break a bunch of brand new valve train goodies!!!!!!

yep well they still are heavy and 680 is getting there but a heavy train they will not help you on you need to know the lifter is not skidding on the cam that happens you in deep $hit

Yes this build needs to last and be reliable-if possible.Probably need to stay with the grind and solid lifters and hope with some fine tuning we can get it there.

What ic would you reccomend? We can use a thicker gasket if need be can't we?

Well, think I'd be on the horn with a rep at my favorite cam company... Be a shame to spend all the $$$$$$ then not have the vacuum you need to make the class.....

Might ask the cam company about the Rhodes lifters, too.... Doubt the techs at Rhodes would be saying much bad about one of the products that makes their paycheck.....

if i post what i really think i may get hate mail from a cam grinder i would try some thing it 108 but you may not make your vacuum with your @.050

This is the grind they came up with and said it should pull. But NO guarantee said the tech.
