i HAVEN'T SEEN ANYONE YOU SELLS A "HIGH PRESSURE" OIL PUMP FOR A BBC, ONLY HIGH VOLUME.
QUESTION 1
WHY DOESN'T ANYONE MAKE ONE?
QUESTION 2
CAN I JUST REMOVE & STRETCH THE SPRING ALITTLE TO INCREASE THE PRESSURE?
THANKS

if you run a HI volume the pressure will be more. less your past .003.5 on the rods and mains why do you want hi pressure ??? you can add a shim under the spring if you must
I Was Told That The "25%" Is Refering To 25% More Volume Over Stock Volume, Not Pressure.
Pressure is the result of flow. More flow means more pressure. Use a HV pump ............
Kitz
or back pressure/ resistance from more flow that in turns takes more HP to run the oil pump and will take the gear off the cam or dist in time :3dSMILE:Quote:

those are the rubber shafts pat, better harmonics so you don't hurt the cam....:LOL::LOL:
yes you can get them from the same guy that sells them rubber top pistons :HMMM: :3dSMILE:Quote:

yes they are great no more piston to valve issues no spark knock:HMMM:
no he stop selling them you could not hold the press fit in the pin end of the rod :rolleyes:Quote:

THAT IS WHY i WANTED TO RAISE THE PRESSURE. i WILL INSTALL A HV TOMMORROW THOUGH !!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS THINK ABOUT RUNNING 60W RACE OIL SINCE i WILL NEVER BE DRIVING IT IN THE DEAD OF WINTER(INDIANA). IS THERE ANY PROS OR CONS TO THIS??? THE MOTOR IS A NEW REBUILD, ALL THE PLUGS ARE INSTALLED, BUT I HAD THEM BUILD IT "LOOSE" ON CLEARENCES, BUT BUT ONLY ON TH HIGH END OF NORMAL. WHEN IT IS COLD THE PRESSURE IS FINE, ONLY AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 20 MIN;THE PRESSURE DROPS TO 5-10 @ IDLE, DRIVING AT 2300 RPMS IT IS 40-45 PSI. IT IS IN A 39 CHEVY COUPE SO THE WHOLE FRONTEND GETS HOT, IDLEING DUE TO RADIENT HEAT. I REALIZE THAt the oil is thinning resulting in the lower pressure, this is my first bbc. why don't they make high pressure oil punps like they make for sbc??????????? i am currently using 15w40 oil
try running a race oil in it 20w50 or just 50wt do not run a hv oil pump in a stock small pan less you have the stock vett or truck big pan on it or just not play with it you do not need much oil psi at idle if you know the oil is thinning out what make s you think your going to get more psi? if the oil is thin your volume will have to go up with thinner oil to see psi you run a hv oil pump in a stock pan and dry it out you will have many more problems then you do not have right now
o.k. no hv oil pump??? would a oil cooler be of any help?? I am using a electric oil guage, which I know are not the most accurite. what would be the lowest psi at idle, before i would be doing damage? would you be too concerned with a bbc running 5-10 psi for long period of time???( like following behind a crowd at a show)
try the oil and see were your at 10 psi is ok there is no real load on the engine should be ok. on the cooler that would be up to you i would try a 20-50 wt oil first
going back to the HV pump, I am using a truck oil pan & a 2quart oil filter. would that let me get by with the HV pump.?
how many QT truck pan ? the small truck pan is not any bigger then the small car pan .but you could getaway with the two qt oil fillter should be ok
the large truck pan(5 qt. pan , plus 2qt oil filter, =total 7 quarts), not the 4 quart. how many sizes did they make in 1974?? will 7 quart be enought for a HV pump?
yes thats ok they made two pans for trucks i think like i said they made a 4qt and a 6 qtQuote:
