    caddy 500

hey guys i know this isn't the caddy area but it's a big gm engine.. i pulled of the dyno today and was very happy with it.. the big caddy went 700hp and 690ftq... just something different from the norm and though i would share it with you all. for those looking to build one i can list the parts i used so you can build one if you would like and all the little socalled secrets the caddy guys are trying to made you pay big buck's for....

Have built a handful of 425, 472, & 500's. It is odd to me your torque was lower than the HP. Please list the stuff and fill us in. Everything we know about all builds helps us out. Thanks.

intake bulldog you can get from m.t.s. the heads are stock small chambers after porting 78cc. the flow was 319@.700 and 268@.700. rocker are full roller setup from m.t.s. the spring setup is 150# on the seat and 400# open. the lifters are sbc soild's with the .012oiling hole. the pushrods are .080 wall 10.200 lenght. cam is a custom soild spec'ed by me .630 lift and 258 264@.050. the rods are from scat full floating 7" long. the pistons are bbc .070 over that are .020 for the caddy. the block need to be decked .020 to 0 deck with the chevy pistons. the valve reliefs need to be cut for the caddy. i called probe and they pulled the pistons before the chevy intake valve relief was cut into them.. alot less cash then custom pistons.. rings are just bbc totalseal tnt's for running nos. the crank is stock with .125 radieus on all the rod journals and cryo treated and reheat treated..the race pan and pump and pickup are all from m.t.s.

pat no there off the shelf rods.. you can get 7" full floaters or press pin right off there web site...can't remember the dam part number.. i called around and every caddy site that sold racing stuff for them wouldn't give any spec's intill some dumb kid sliped up and said that scat was making rods for caddy engine..looked them up and the small end was the same as a big blck chevy and the comp height from a chevy would work if just took .020 off the deck. the pistons are off the shelf bbc just .070 over they could come from any brand flat tops. flat tops give a comp ratio of 12.21to1 and a dish bbc piston will give you 10to1 nice friendly pump gas engine..CANADIANAL THE POWER WAS AT 6400RPM that's fine i have a piston that's half the weight then the factory one with a lot bettter rods and bolts. the factory piston was over 1200grams with pins. the bbc pistons are 640grams. it made 600+ftq at 2500 and at 3000 rmps it was 667ftq and stayed there intill it was 690+ at 4900 and stayed there intill 5700rmp when it droped to 630ftq...
