Mark IV to gen 5 or gen 6
If I were to swap my 1990 Mark IV 454 block out for say a gen 5 block, which would already have a hydraulic roller cam, would my 781 heads work? I know the heads I have are adjustable, but I heard the gen 5 heads don't have an adjustable valvetrain.
I want to be able to use my heads and 177 blower, but don't want to have to pay the high $$ for retrofit hydraulic roller lifters etc.
Thanks, and sorry for all the questions. Too much idle time from blown motor provides more time to think about stupid shit

no do not do that... it would be much better to buy the lifter for the mark4 and the mark 6 is the only block that has roller lifters and your heads will not work on the mark 5or 6Irish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

Pat thanks. Too bad I live too far away, would like to have you around for more in person brain picking.
I'm assuming the hydraulic roller lifters would be the way to go (retro) right? I've seen hydraulic and hydraulic roller retro kits...
I have an Uncle that lives near the UP, maybe I'll have to schedule a trip up there (with the 454 block in the bed of my truck )

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
