    Cracked head?

Well I finally fired my engine up today, its been a year since it was running. I orignally tore it down because I had coolant coming out of my left exhaust, and it was the no. 7 cylinder, also seen scaring on the piston wall so decided to go total rebuild. I told the machine shop their was no signs of the head looking bad and the bolt threads looked sealed also, they said they would take care of it. So I got it back a few weeks ago. The motor ran for about 1 minute today, the thing was hard to crank like it was out of timing, I double checked everthing, checked the oil again and had water in the oil. Decided to pull the no.7 plug everything fine, so I pulled the no.2 and I had water coming out of that cylinder. What do you think the chances are that that head is on the other side now? And that the machine shop did not flux it for cracks? Thanks.

I think the chances are pretty good that your suspicions are correct. I also think that you'd better check for a cracked piston and/or bent rod if you had that much water in the cylinder. You could have hydrauliced that hole.

I examined it really good this morning and thought I can see the crack, took it back to the machine shop. I showed them the spot and they said yeah looks like thats where it may be, I then informed them that this was the same head they were supposed to pay special attention to on my total rebuild. This is the reason I tore the motor down last time, looks like they didnt do the job correctly. They say I need another head now and they will cover it, they are going to take all my new parts and put them in the other head. I hope the motor is ok, it got water in it during the the time I briefly fired it up, I think maybe it ran for about 20 seconds at the most and then I was trying to figure why it wasnt getting fuel. Thanks
