Agreed, you must always ask your self not only "will this achieve my goal?" (raise compression) but also "what are the factors I must consider in reaching my goal?"
You will raise compression with a smaller chamber.
You MIGHT have a problem if you have domed pistons designed for OPEN chambered heads.
You MIGHT have a problem with detonation (correct me if I have the wrong term in there) if your compression winds up being too high. Is it a pump gas motor?
