    magnum or pro-magnum?

    Hi guys - it's been a while!

My question is about rocker suitability for a hydraulic roller cam. I read somewhere that ball-pivot rockers could be marginal for spring pressures used with hydraulic roller cams. My spring pressures are 155lb closed and 177lb at .600" lift, although my cam only lifts .547". These are Comp Cams beehives recommended for BBC.
So far, I don't think I've had any problem with the roller-tip Magnums, although I haven't taken one off to examine the condition. Am I right that roller trunnion rockers would run cooler and maybe release an extra 8 or so hp?
I've always been attracted by the Comp Cams steel Pro-Magnums, but would it just be a waste of money with my setup?? If not, is there any way at all they can be made to fit under stock tin covers - I don't want to change the stock look. Can the locknuts be shortened somehow maybe?
    Any advice would be welcome!
    Chris

I think you made a typo on the open spring pressure.
As far as the Pro-Magnums, if you have the coin to buy 'em, do it. You'll never break 'em, Comp will rebuild 'em if they wear out and they should contribute to lower oil temp and decreased friction to free up some hp in my opinion.

Sorry, it should have been 377lbs open pressure, of course!
Thanks for your input - any ideas on the clearance issue?

    Did you click the link?
You could paint 'em engine color and nobody would be the wiser.

The Comp Magnums are very sturdy... they should handle what you are doing.
