    Question Transmission for Blown 489

     



    I just bought the 8-71 Blower and the carbs and im just ready to install these parts in my engine but i didnt get the trans. yet, What u guys think? which trans should I get and which converter?
    I Lookin at Coan Trans. TH400 and Hughes TH400, Which one is better?

    Of course I would vote for the Coan.
    I would get with your cam company and ask them what they recommend.
    Then call the tranny company and tell them you have a blown application.

    coan this what i have use and what my customers use . the 400.i would use a vasco jet input and a coan supper sprag and run a steel stator tq converter and run a screen type trans filter. find one and use it .this will keep the clutches from burning up. use a deep alum trans pan. the red clutches work good . i run a manual body. the supper sprag and the input may be over kill .BUT i have broken the HD gm sprag. so if you have some money buy the best and be done with it. a trans built this way will take alot of power . this what i have in my GTO

    A 4 speed Lenco????? Oops sorry, I guess you said automatics.... I've used a Coan in a couple cars, no complaints....
