I am almost embarrased to be asking this, but I am getting confused here. I have a mild 454 (circa 1984) and am looking to match it up to a 5 speed manual. My plan was to go with a 3rd gen camaro/firebird/iroc bell with a T5, but am realizing that a T5 might be too weak. I have also been looking at T56 6 speeds, but most of them came off a LS1 or LT1 motors. Which of these modern engines have interchangeable bellhousings that would bolt to my 454? Not sure what I should be shopping for...

Any other trans combo suggestions out there I should be looking at also?

 thx guys

Various companies are making bellhousings and or adapter plates to bolt the Tremec and T-5 trannies to the regular chebbie back of block bolt pattern. A lot of the companies selling the trannies also sell the apropriate components to mount it to the engine with....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

if the bell housing will fit a small block chevy it'll fit a big block chevy or a 250 6 banger

Any small block? even a modern one? I saw a bellhousing tranny combo out of a newer vette and the bellhousing pattern looked different than what I am used to seeing. I don't know much about the late model chevy stuff. Originally Posted by gassersrule_196 Originally Posted by gassersrule_196
