Try looking for 350 "Small Block". The smallest cubic inch big blocks of that era for Pontiac were 400 and for Chevy 402/396. Wht you have is probably a small block not a big block. There is a ton of info on the web for small block 350s

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Most Pontiacs in Canada had chevy motors from 1955. Some of the newer ones that he is talking about had oddball 350's that weren't small block chev. I am not a muscle car guy so can't help you out there. Also we never had wide track Pontiacs as ours only had chev rearends. We did have Pontiac performance cars though with big block chevs. 62 bubbletop Pontiacs with 409's. Pontiacs with 427's and 454's as well. Our 57's had 283's although I am not sure if fuel injection was available.

the wierd thing about this engine is that it say's 350 on the block, but the block is about an inch bigger than another pontiac 350 that i have. yet the 350 (big block) is about 3/4 of an inch smaller than the 400 that i have.

Um... I hate to tell you this but there are Several different 350's made by GM back in the day...

Oldsmobile 350 (same Physical size as the 455 block, different heads & intake)

Chevy 350 (much smaller than a BBC)

Pontiac 350 (not sure how it compared in size to the Poncho 455s)

Buick 350 (again not sure how it compared to the 455 blocks)

If you don't know which one of those engines it is, you will need to find out. I don't think any of them will phyiscally say "350" on the blocks, unless it is a sticker on an aircleaner or valve cover, which you really can't count on anyway...

Do you have a digital camera, take a photo, and i'm sure we can help you figure out what the block is.
