You're not going to know what is inside of the block based on the numbers on the outside. The 427-502 all use the same block, I believe.

no 502 is a bow tie p/n10051107 two pice rear seal or a 502 block p/n 10237300 one pice rear seal

Okay... that complicates things LOL. Oh well, that's why I am asking questions here before I do anything stupid.

Well, I still can't make out the block casting #, but it has 7.4 stamped on the side so it's a 454. Anyhow, the heads are peanut, 14092360. So some 049's or 781 are definitely in order to increase the horsepower LOL.
