    429 cadi big block ????

i have a 66 cadi with a 429 big block and i cant get it to run right at all
it runs rich and cant get it to idle smooth under 1000 rpms.
the dwell is at 25deg the timing is 10 deg btdc the flotes are set at 3/8
flote drop is 15/16. carb is a carter just been rebuilt but cant figure out what the middle large adjustment screw is for. if any one can give me some info that will let me get this thing up and running better it would be very helpfull.

checked for vacume leaks none that i can spot. if i put the timing at 5degs btdc it wont hardly run could that be because the carb may not be set right. if so what are the specs for that carb. what is the middle screw for. do not have pcv valve on it
not great with motors but good with everything else

no egr valve and its raining here but if you are looking at the front of the carb you have two small adj screws and one big one the small ones are on eather side of the big one i think the small ones are for the air fuel mix but not sure

ok i reset timing dwell and the carb screws the middle one is a 1/4 turn out and the small ones are 4 1/2 fullturns out and it idles ok at 800 rpm but it stumbles alittle. if i hit the gas it hesitates a little then picks right up. so big improvment what else can you think of that might help

ok checked all plug wires and no light show. but when i was checking the plugs the #4 plug was very wet all the others looked good so i did a compresion check on #4 and it had 15 lbs. so i started to look in to it and i pulled the valve cover off and no push rod on the #4 intake valve and the lifter had come apart. i pulled the broken pieces of the push rod out and pulled the lifter out and replaced them.it runs alot better now but when i put the car in gear it starts to stumble and want to die it has power breakes and they are working but could i have a leak in the vacume to them or might it be somthing else????
