What big block for 1/8 mile drag racing?
Short deck ,tall deck is best?Should I do a big cubic inch short deck or a small cubic inch tall deck?I am using stock closed chamber oval ports too.Engine will be pulling a 65 chevy short bed truck.Do I want to stay with a smaller cubic inch displacement for the shorter track?I am looking for 600-650 horses total,400 on pump gas and a 250 shot of nitrous.ThanksLast edited by BigTruckDriver; 04-08-2006 at 10:33 AM.

short or tall will not make much dif you can get more cid with the tall deck more room for longer rods so .i have built low rpm tall decks with the 427 block so it would come do to gearing it to the engine

Would a short deck have the advantage on the shorter track? You know less rotating mass.Friends dont let friends drive fords!

with the right size gear and stall i do not think it will make no diff. but what you have to ask you self is can you hook it to the track???

It sounds like you'll be bracket racing, so there is no use trying to build anything except the biggest motor you can afford. It's not like you need to stay within a limit as far as lbs per cubic inch to make a particular class. The only thing you really need to do in bracket racing is to be consistent, but having lots of motor makes it more fun. (and more expensive).
