    The distributor does not sit on the centerline of the engine, it sits off to the side so it engages the cam vertically. The distributor is vertical in the block and raising it will not change the angle. Even if the distributor engaged the cam at an angle, it doesn't matter what angle. The gear is round, therefore, the same from any angle.
