    Timing chain sprocket gear clearance

I have a double roller timing chain, and iam using the stock timing cover. Sense i don't have the intake on and i can see into the cover and even when i feel the chain it dont seem like i have alot of room, it seems like the gear will hit the cover. Should i buy a different cover or will this one be fine.
    Thanks
    Mike

i have never seen a big block chain set hit the front cover. BUT is it a gm cover or made in china? if it is a old mark 4 engines with a GM cover you should be fine but if looks that close check it any thing that is .040 or more it will be fine

Ya it is the stock GM cover. The block is a pre 80 454 block.
