    Streetable Clutch for 600+ torque

I was at a dyno this weekend trying to work on getting my blown (6-71) BBC running good. We did manage to get 500HP at the wheel (@5100RPMs) but after making another jet change the engine smoked the clutch.

I know it's making 515 ft/lb torque at the wheels right now before the clutch slipped. So I'm not sure what exactly the outcome will be. (I'm guessing maybe 600 torque and 700hp??)

This is mostly driven on the street just cruising around. My wife drives it alot and it's seen some Woodward Dream Cruise time. (idling in bumper to bumper traffic for hours) But I would like to be able to visit the dyno again and not have the clutch slip.

So any reccomendations would be appreciated.

I was told to check out McLeod clutches, possibly their "Ram Series"

BBC uses a 11" clutch right?

On and off in the past I've used 12" clutches on small and BB Chevys.

Not real sure whats currently available in the aftermarket, but with that much torque, I'd sure look into it.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

I used an Exedy twin-disc for a Tremec T56 on a Z06 with heads/cam/nitrous. It was making over 500 rwhp and 600 rwtq and never had any problems with the cluch. Surprisingly, it was a very streetable clutch and probably more lady-friendly that other clutches. I'm not sure if it'll work for your tranny, though. You'll have to check on that.

I've heard LUK makes the most streetable aftermarket clutches, but I can't provide you with any data or testimonials to back up that statement.
