sorry about the not elaborating and my name is mike. When i try to adjust the rockers i tighten them untill the push rod gives resistance then i can only go an 1/8th of a turn no more or else it seems like i have over tightend the valve becuase it starts to backfire or whatnot. but if i go any less the valves tap like crazy so thats why i was wondering if i needed longer push rods i cant see anything binding but i am not sure

i really appreciate all your guys help and everything was working until we heard a lifter bottoming out and so we decieded to pull the intake to see what happend and all this was happening becuase the guy who built the motor tightend the valves on start up to tight and it started to eat the cam and it was just slowly eating more and more and more and finally the damn thing wouldnt start but we did a cam swap and a bearing overhaul and now it runs like a dream.. thanx
