    need some help with a 502

     



    hello all. new to the site and hope to learn and share some info.
    now for my question. i have the opertunity to trade my drag bike for a blown 502 BB. im curious what it is worth. ill give you the low down on what he tells me it is.

    502/500 GM GENERATION 6 8TO1 JE PISTONS SET UP FOR BLOWER

    COMP ROLLER HYD CAM, NEW COMP ROLLER LIFTERS, COMP 1.7 ROLLER ROCKER

    325 CC DART ALUMINUM HEADS WITH 7/16 STUDS 230/ 188 MANLEY EXTREME DUTY VALVES ECHONEL EX VALVES, ALL NEW VALVES SPRINGS

    SKAT 4130 STEEL CRANK AND RODS

    871 BLOWER SHOP POLISHED BLOWER WITH 950 AED MODED HOLLEY CARBS WITH ALL LINKAGE AND NEW K&N FILTER KIT
    I RUN THE ENGINE WITH 10PSI BOOST ON 93 OCTANE FUEL THE MOTOR WAS JUST GONE THROUGH OVER THE WINTER ,, FRESH HEAD JOB, NEW RINGS , ROD BEARINGS ,NEW MAIN BEARINGS, NEW CAM BEARINGS, NEW BRASS FREEZE PLUGS ,ALL NEW GASKETS , NEW TIMING CHAIN, NEW RWAR MAIN SEAL THE MOTOR RAN MY 25FT TALON 114 MPH AT 10 PSI OF BOOST ,, THE MOTOR IS ABOUT 830HP AT TEN PSI BOOST AT 5800 ROMS

    In the neighborhood of 15g give or take. I've seen them at shows and in ads for 15 to 18 g. That's new price tho. Used .. even freshened up would be quite a bit less. At least it would be if i had to write the check. I just about bought one 2-3 years ago for 6g, but then decided to not take a chance on someone else's used engine.

    ya it looks like it lotta work but will be nice when were done. mine is going in a 63 chevy II. no pics of the car on the computor yet. it has a alston front half and a morrison back half ,narrowed 12 bolt. was a drag car im turning into a prostreet. thanks again! dean
