Ive got the 770 on my 454 & it works great. But than my 454 never sees the other side of 5000 RPMS. If you plan to take it to 6500 Id use the 870 for sure, infact Id say 870 would be about perfect.
I did jet my 770 up a couple sizes on the primary & also swaped the #25 squirter for a # 3275 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered
