I agree - You have to be carefull of shift kits. Keep it mild for a daily driver. I use a 2000 rpm (Corvette) stall speed converter. Its a few hundred rpm higher than stock.I think stock for a 700r4 in a car was around 1600 rpm.
A little higher stall speed helps keep the car from jerking when put in gear.Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).
