type of tranny oil
I just got done installing a shift kit into my turbo 350. In the shift kit it says i should use type f tranny fluid. I was wondering if this would work well in my tranny. I have read that it will firm up your shifts. If this is true would it work in a 700r4 tranny. I realize that its not compatible with electronic control trannys but i thought maybe it would work in a 700r4 with the only thing electronic is the lock up torque convertor.
Any reply is greatly appreicated

Newer Gm transmissions ( Ex, TH350,TH400 ) usually take Dexron 3 Mecron fluid, I'm not shure but I'd check twice, as I'm not compleatly shure and I don't want to tell you wrong and have you get a bad case of Kentucky Fried Tranny which, could happen if the transmission is improperly lubricated.

Type F has its uses though. I reccomend it for your power steering pump. Doesnt break down, as streets said, and it is cheap. However, for trannys, go with the decron III, and dont use any additives unless you have severe slippage. These seem to have little to no beneficiary effects on GM transmissions, and are a general headache to clean out of the pans for a filter change. Also, i have to ask, whats the difference between decron III and decron II?
