Am taking a reman 305 from a camaro and sticking in a jeep that i am removing a broken 305 from.

Both have 700R4, both ran.

the bad motor is a pre-80 305 block, the reman an 84 or 85 I beleive. Oil pans are slightly different for sure.

The reman has a 14" flywheel, the bad motor a 15". the bellhousings are the same, the flywheel centers are the same.

it appears that the bad motor starter and flywheel will work on the reman motor - although it had a smaller flywheel. I have the motor out and the starter bolted up to check for flywheel clearance/engagement.

So what is different that one has a smaller flywheel - the starters?
The camaro starter (reman motor) is still attached to the car (wires) so i have not had it off to confuse. i mean compare, it with the 'bad' motor starter.

I am building a 68 350 to go into the camaro - will the smaller flywheel work? assuming i keep the same starter...if that is what the diff is.

It's all the same yet completely different...
