I need some help with what stall speed for a 700r4
55 Chevy truck not sure on the weight proly in the low 3000 lbs range. 383 Stroker mild build 3.73 rear around 430 hp 3000 rpm it has 488 torque erson cam grind is RH272-320 @.05 218.0/226.0 95% cruising but I will burn the tires from time to time

Whose converter are you planning to use? You should call them and answer all of their questions accurately. You say that you've got 488ftlbs of torque at 3000rpm, but you need to be looking at your overall torque curve, not just one point. Where does the curve break over and become relatively flat? For example, IMO if your torque curve climbs steeply from zero, approaches that 488ftlbs around 2000rpm and stays pretty flat across the rpm range I'd want the converter to stall at something like 2400rpm so when you release the brake you've got a bit of cushion to fight the tire friction and get the weight moving. That said, you need to talk to the guys providing your converter to get the right answer, IMO. Anything less is just a guess, again, my $0.02 on the subject.
