    You nailed it Matt, googled Dakota's instructions and it says hook to fused 12v + on with start and run.
    It's in the wording (a bit confusing), what they mean is, the 12volt positive source connection needs to come from ignition and is on when the starter is engaged (which most are). This just confirms they do not want it on an accessory terminal (accessories are off with starter engaged). This also prevents the indicators from lighting in the accessory switch position.
