Hey im new to this forum but cant get help anywhere else. I have a 95z28 350 lt1 that im almost done rebuilding and I cleaned the tranny today and measured the flywheel runout off the engine and mounted on a brake lathe I cannot find a spec on all data n my machinist doesnt have itin his book as to acceptable runout and max it can be ground does anyone have a difinitive answer I would really appreciate the help
Google is your friend. Go to google.com and query "flywheel runout" if you use the quotes, you get the exact phrase. Then, add Chevy to your search..... you get hundreds of hits on this.
Measuring flywheel runout at the flywheel face is a tough one....cant really do it on the engine unless you can eliminate crank end play. Using a lathe is easier, using a surface plate might work if you can set up a plane for the flywheel mounting flange to sit on.

Take it to a shop that has a flywheel grinder and get it resurfaced and check for cracks---don't use any other method to check run out as most likely it would be inaccurate
