where can i find hp ratings for trany's like borg warners and municies?
Most find that they will handle abour 300-320HP, but it's the torque you want to watch out for. Neither tranny was good at handling torque over a long period of time and the first things to go were the Syncronizers.
what's a good manual trany that wouldn't cost too much to either rebuild or buy new. i'm willing to spend money for a good trany, but i don't want to spend too much. i don't need a six speed or anything like that, just a good trany for the money.
Muncies and the Borg-Warer T10 have to be the strongest of the production manuals. Neither have overdrive. The T5 isn't too strong and is extremely difficult for someone who doesn't know what their doing to position the shift forks on. As a matter of fact, that is the only repair job I have attempted and not been able to finish in my entire car, home appliance, motorcycle, bicycle, and ship repair experiences. I have failed to fix computers, but computers are stupid. An engine has a sole and just needs some love sometimes. Computers are the devil and will kick your ass if you try to help them.
wich one is stronger and wich one is cheaper to build or buy?
I don't know 76, it seems I can rember kicking my car and hitting my knuckles against the engine especially when those rusted nuts and bolts won't come out. As far as the computers go all you have to do is slap them on the top and they go back to work. Maybe thats why my hands don't work to well anymore!HeHeHe
