the filler tube on my c6 transmission has been cut shorter
and that makes the dipstick readings totally inacurrate.
i recently had a hose to the trans cooler become loose.
and lost a lot of fluid.
how do i figure out what the proper amount of fluid to add is?
once i get it filled correctly i can put new markings on my dipstick.
i am thinking maybe pull the pan and empty the tranny of fluid (excepting the torque converter)
and then adding the correct amount. (whatever that is)

I replaced my leaky Lokar flex dipstick with a Hughes locking version from Summit. I had to cut it way down to fit my firewall recess. What I did was measure the pan end projection, then cut the upper ends, which can be done on these, so as to maintain the cross hatches measuring lines, reassembled then refilled to the line.
As far as the correct amount - a C6 is like a C4, lots of different "opinions" including Ford's own shop manuals and in different places in the same set of books:eek:
I would suggest that you just cut the dip stick off from the bottom, the same amount that the tube was shorted. Then place the cut off piece next to the now short dipstick and transfer the marking over, be sure to bias the two parts at the ends. Not a big deal.
