loud whinning noise when high rpm/speeds
Whenever I get to around 4000 rpms or 60 mph there is a very high pitched, and very loud whining noise that I believe is from the transmission but am not Sure from what. What is this and how do I fix it?

Have you checked for loose or damaged vacuum lines? Does it sound like it's from the front / rear / maybe underneath?? Does it go away if you lightly step on the brakes?

It does go away after I lightly tap the brakes but continues when i get back on it. I'm gongvto be able to check on my transmission this weekend, do you think it could be harmed by driving it until then?

Don't know if this will help, but my last fords power steering pump whined quite a bit., and since I don't have anything else intelligent to add, I always hear a whine when my girlfriend rides with me, although the whine goes away if I slow down
Is it going into a build, or making a trip to NM?
