I cover how to build one for an A833 4 speed in these posts:

Basically, you need an early Poly or Hemi Flywheel, and the correct spacer plate for parts along with the correct bellhousing. If the flywheel is not drilled it will need to be. Takes a little work, but is usually a lot cheaper than the $700-800
For some on the market.
Thanks for the info.Heres where im at --- i am told a small block mopar bellhousing will bolt up at the top but need to fabricate a 1" spacer and tap in remaining bolts. I only have the original bell housing to work off of at this time but the input shaft housing on a hemi a833 that mates with the bellhousing is4.80 " identical to the original 54 bell housing. My question is --what would i have to do to make this work i.e. pilot brg.-clutch fork/t.o. brg. etc--- and why wont it work??thanks again
The pilot bearing will depend on if the crank is already drilled or not and if it has been drilled what size it has been drilled for (then it's a simple looking thru the parts books for one the correct ID and OD).
Using stock SB bellhousing the TO bearing and fork are just standard SB Chrysler 4 speed stuff.
yes-crank is drilled-havn't mic'd it but if i was to guess .650-.750-
