Hello!! I'm building a 35-40 chassis with a 327 muncie 4 speed setup I have the stock pedal assembly and have allready adapted power remote fill brakes, but wonder if anyone has advice or pics on how to set up the clutch linkage? I'm using a 39 pedal assembly, and have a throughout arm that takes a 3/8 heim joint, but need to fab a linkage somehow??:whacked:
I don't know if this will help, but I put a hydraulic clutch in my '40' coupe. Mine has a T56 six speed, but it would work for yours with the slave cylinder in a reversed direction. Pretty simple to install, clean, and works great. Good luck.
that's a pretty interesting set up dirt cop. I spent a lot of money 4 years ago on a brake/clutch pedal assembly with master cylinders then $100 for a braided line to go from this threaded Wilwood clutch master cylinder to the "push pin" slave all while having a stock Camaro clutch master in my possesion. It works great like I have it, but if I had to do it over I'd save the money.
For streetrodderbn though he would have to convert to a 6 speed overdrive t56..
The clutch system doesn't know what it is pushing on. The same system as I have can be used on a Muncie 4 speed except slave cylinder would be positioned to push to back of car, while the T56 slave cylinder pushes forward. I put the reservoir on a longer solid line in engine compartment. As long as reservoir is above master cylinder it will work. Just illustrating one way of doing a clutch setup.
Thats the setup I was looking at making, I have been looking at the speedway setup, and this is the way I will probably go!! Thanx!!:)
Just got a 1940 pedal assembly and snagged an extra brake pedal from a friend to have the linkage arm facing backwards to push on the master cylinder(the clutch master cylinder), now waiting for my pin and bushing kit to arrive to rebuild it, than I'll post some pics! the brake arm used on the clutch side will give me enough offset to clear my power booster (the pushrod to the clutch master cylinder!!) :3dSMILE:
I have only driven my '40' Ford a few hundred feet (literally), but the clutch mechanism works great. Easy pedal and nice grip. I really look forward to using the other 5 speeds! I'm going to be putting the same T56 type transmission into my '55' Chevy next. From now on all my cars will have overdrive!
