    Ford C-4 Reverse Slips & no 3rd

I need some advise, Trans. 1st, 2nd and Reverse work, but Reverse slips you really have to goose the throttle to get it moving and 3rd won't engage.

I changed the fluid & filter I have not adjusted bands! I don't know if this could possibly be a band adjustment or possibly servo? Please Advise!

The C-4 has a reverse/high clutch set that is applied in both reverse and high. Chance are that set of clutches is slipping.
What did the fluid look like when you changed it.
If it was dark and smelled burnt with black residue in the bottom of the pan it is a sure sign of burned clutch plates.
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Fluid was brownish in color not quite black it really didnt smell burnt there was some black sludge in the bottom. do you think band adjustment would help at all?

C-4 has two bands. One is applied only for 2nd and the other for low and reverse. I don't see how either would cause the symptoms you have.

have you been driving this vehicle all along, or was the trans sitting for a long period of time? if it had been sitting you might try a can of Lucas trans treatment. It's worked for me before. not a "fix", but it may get you by for a wile.
