I have suddenly developed a Squishing Clicking noise when the transmission(700 R4) is cold and I shift to reverse.It is ok as long as it is in park,but when I shift to reverse it makes the sound and it is quiet loud.
Once the engine is started (cold) and running in park for about 2 to 3 minutes the noise is not present when shifting to reverse.
Fluid level checks to be ok. Car performs ok while driving,it's just the initial start and shift without waiting a couple of minutes.
Pull the pan for giggles and grins. Tell us what you see. Although, I have a suspicion that the front pump is a 7 vane unit and has let go.
Other things can cause the noise. Just to be sure though, pull the pan and get ahead of the diagnosis to make sure whether you have an expensive problem or an easy, cheap fix.
Please check the wheel alignment.
Maybe we need to have him clarify if he's actually rolling. Alignment? He'd have to actually roll some distance for an alignment problem to act funny on the tires and suspension.Quote:

If he's confident that the noise is definitely coming from the tranny, look at the pump.
Hey,thanks for the response.The noise is present only when shifting to Rev. from park.No noise while in Park.
The car is not moving wnen this all takes and when I do move the noise is present for a couple of minutes.
The alignment is my own doing,as it's never been checked on a Hunter System. Handles ok while driving.
Plan to drop the pan ,but it's been so darn "HOT" 100 + every day and my garage does not have A/C.
I haven't checked to see if the noise is present in neutral or drive,I guess I need to check that also.
Yeah, do that checking. Just to see the science project in the bottom of the pan. But, with some more diagnosis, you may find the pump is the source of the noise.
It's common for the 7 vane to cause this issue.
