The 3500 shift tower comes off with 4 bolts, the 4500 tower is integral with the trans top.
I have the 3500 (I have removed my shift tower before). He wasnt 100% sure so I am guessing he is wrong about where it came from.

Just a note, this transmission and bellhousing (minus clutch and pressure plate) was only about 100 pounds if that helps. Are manual trannies normally that light?
