    Good find on a T5 -

    I'll leave the first two questions to the transmission experts on this site.

    For number three - if your shifter looks like the one below, it should be attached with Allen cap screws. If it is attached with standard hex bolts, I would recommend removing the one that is "sticking up" and check the length - it may be too long. The casting can break on these transmissions if these bolts are tightened excessively OR if they are too long which will cause them to bottom out and as you tighten the bolt, it has no place to go resulting in stripped threads or a crack in the casting. Go with a bolt that fits, use a drop of Loctite (blue) and tighten good and snug - not murder tight.
