I'v always liked three pedeals and was thinking of changing over from my 350 to either a muncie or more modern 4 or 5 speed tranny. My question is since I've never done this before, how hard of job is it to change over and since my break pedal comes through the floor like on all the older cars and trucks, would it be easier to use and old style clutch or go with a hydraulic clutch?. Should I stick with the floor type or go with the firewall mount?
I like using the hanging pedals. Much cleaner in the car without the holes in the floor. Using the hydraulic system is easy to install, and they work great. Just make sure you are using the right bore for the master cylinder you are using. If you buy a new swingeing pedal system they will provide the correct salve cylinder or tell you which one to use.

I used bell housing and slave cylinder from an 1985-91 chevy truck (#15530202) and a small Wilwood master (#260-1304). Works mint.

I have the Quick Time SFI approved bellhousing with a billet slave and billet fork that is mounted tight to the bellhousing for the best clearance yet still having the reliability of an external rebuildable slave.
This is available for many engine combinations.

When I had the 400 in the 62 pickup I used the stock 283 bellhousing with the stock hydraulic slave cylinder. In that application the cylinder is mounted on the passenger side of the bellhousing.

If you can find old used parts like that, it's fine but when nothing else is available, the bellhousing I have pictured above works really nice.
I developed it because many times aftermarket internal hydraulic fail and cause tons of inconvieniences like broken down on the highway and paying big bucks to fix it only for it to still leak.

Hey Mike, last I heard the Quick Time was still being tested by SFI....did they get a sticker on it now, and if so what is the SFI spec number on it?????

Quick Time has many SFI approved bellhousings for multiple applications. I also install my external hydraulic slave kit on Lakewood & McLeod bellhousings too. If you already have a steel bellhousing I can install it if you ship it to me.
