Hi,

The Problem:

I purchased a custom vehicle that was sold to me with a transplanted 1985 Olds 304 front wheel drive - The vehicle is too heavy (9000 lbs) for the stock 3 speed tranny and a rear end that is geared wrong for this weight - I keep burning up the clutches - especially the reverse clutches.

Questions:

Is it possible to change out the rear end to a donor rear end from say a 1969-1974 Eldorado

Will it bolt up? Will the Olds Axles work? Any other issues?

My thought is since these cars were so much heavier than the 1985 Olds the rear end ratio will be better for this weight and help with the problem
