Noise when the clutch is pressed is usually the throwout bearing, though sometimes it's just vibration getting transmitted up the linkage when it's under pressure.
Some Mopars had a torque converter, some a fluid coupler. The converter used engine oil and the engine oil pump to supply it with oil, the fluid coupler had its own internal supply. Yours being a Plymouth it's probably the latter, the bigger heavier torque converter was usually in heavier cars.
It's a unique driving experience, being able to stop a car with a clutch pedal without touching the clutch, and just giving it the gas to move away. You can even take off in second or (sluggishly!) in high. The three speed trans is the same as in any other Pilgrim.
John's ride to the cemetery, his beloved Billings OK bus, The Baby Elephant!! Traveling in style!! As his service was starting I couldn't figure out what the music was, heavy on a flute in a jaunty...
