I put a 700r4 in my vette, behind a 350. When installing a B&M shifter, I discovered that the shift lever on the tranny is very hard to move. The new shifter will not move the lever from park and such... Its hard to move by hand also. I know there is nothing wrong with the shifter. So, is there something wrong with the tranny? I've connected the tv cable, made sure the tranny is full of fluid. Still hard to move lever. Help? kip:CRY:
Is the shifter new, are you sure its for your application, Was the tranny used with another shifter prior to the swap to compare it with, Have you dry shifted the shifter not yet connected to the tranny, Does the cable have a kink or sharp bend in it? If you have ruled out most of these questions, unhook the cable at the tranny and try shifting the linkage by hand. Also some of todays shifters are used for a couple models and must have a pin removed or installed to work with certain models.
I've worked my way through most of your thoughts. The shifter works fine without the tranny connected. Without the cable on the lever, it is very hard to move... what's the possibility I messed something up when I had the pan off to install new electrical components from bowtie overdrives, for wiring the 700? and what would it be? thanks - kip
