    '93 S-10 Blazer 4l60E question

Has anyone pulled a 4l60E out a S-10 Blazer 4X4, I hear it's a pain in the a$$, I need to change the tranny in my Blazer, I'm going to pull the motor and tranny out later after I sell my house and drive it from Mn to Tn, so if I need to cut minor holes in the floor, I will. What is the problem that it calls so long to do?
What's the trick to get it out and in, with out lifting the body.
Shops tell me $500.00-$750.00 to change it, if I supply the tranny. I have to get some things out of my garage (it's packed to move when the house sells), just to look under it.

Firewall lip. It was a late Friday evening at the factory when they thought that one up. Motor mounts have sagged by the time it reached 60,000miles but doesn't help the situation. Get past the firewall with your trusty socket and you'll find it ain't so bad just time consuming.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Or you can take a hole saw and cut holes up by the heater box, many shps do this without the customer knowing. I do not approve of this, but it does save time.
I've got the itch to lay some rubber down!!! ~Thanks grampa! its been 10 years worth of work, I just wish you could see it~

Its quite easy on a lift I remove them in 30 minutes remove the crossmember then the drive shafts then transfer case then the converter bolts with the transfer case out the trans drops enough to get at the bolts it helps if you have a 36 inch extention and an impact flex socket. worth buying even just to do it once. good luck

I'm going to do it in my garage on jack stands all around, right now it's stuffed with things, that I need to move in there. I have all my air and electric tools packed, most my garage is packed, I was suppose to move a long time ago. I don't want to drive my '87 Mustang convert in the snow!
Do I need to pull the dist, or can I just remove the cap & rotor?

    Thanks for the info!

i agree w/ cook67 once you get the transfercase and cossmember out drop the trans down and you should be able too get the bolts w/ a 9/16 flex socket depending on year the later ones have studs and nuts too deal w/.
no need too mess w/ dist
