Thread: ford fmx tranny help?????

hi guys and gals its been a while so i know let me have it. but i got a ??? for you all. i come across a 75 t-bird with a 351w and i think a fmx tranny??? but not sure it has a detachable bell housing ??? so is this a fmx or c4??? and if it is a fmx will a stall converter from a c4 work in it?? any help and i would be grateful, oh and i promise to be more active also

FMX is cast iron, C4 and C6 are aluminum. Converter won't work from one to 'tother.

ok its not a fmx.then did ford make a c4 with a detachable bell housing

ok, then are the c4 with out a detacble housing rare for i got 2 of these but the detachable one is the first ford i've ever seen i know others made them but not ford????

Quite honestly, I've never seen a C-4 that wasn't detachable. The C-6's and the Mid 80's C-3 were cast one piece. Maybe later C-4's were one piece, but I've never had one.
