    transmission help

I am rebuilding my first transmission and have a considerable amount of rust on sun gear shell and drums ( some on inside of shell and drums, most on the outside surface. Can this be cleaned and scrubbed with scotch pad and be ok to run. The sprag springs where not perfect either, i re stretched the collapsed ones and they all seem to hold pins well now, 2 pins where slightly scored as well. The sprag went back together ok but is a little bit tight, is this a problem or will it be sufficient. Any comments or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Rust on the shells is OK. Remove as much as possible.

    Replace the sprag.
