Never tried just the shift kit it's self,IV alway's installed transpak kit.I like B&M products,Even with only a shift kit installed you will notice a differiance in the shift. Can't say who has better kit's and so on never used any thing but B&M stuff.
ive only used the B&M also and it was also the trans pack, huge difference! they are probably all a good quality kit anymore if you get a brand name part. and yes if you have 500 horses you should have this conversion.
I've used B&M and TCI on Ford C4 and C6 transmissions. Both are equal as far as I am concerned tho I do think the TCI instructions need some help. I agree with Denny. The trans has to be in good shape with clear/clean oil and good shifts before the mod - it isn't a band-aid for one that needs overhaul. The lowest stage is sufficiant for basically stock engines and a stock or low stall converter and street or towing. I have for years been using TCI SFI flex plates, their Saturday Night Special torque converters and Street Fighter transmissions with great luck
This is a little bit of reading, but I think it's worth checking out before you by a kit. But then again I try to read up on everything I do (no matter now many times I've done it before. My wife says it's age! ), to come up with new idea's!
