ford c6 variations and HP rebuilds
hello people!
well, after I finished up, building my engine...with a certain degree of satisfaction
It's now time to put some strain and effort in the transmission!
What I have, is a genuine 1966 casting C6 with FE bellhousing. Now, what I want to know is, how much do the C6 castings differ, over the years they were made?
For instance:
I got a remark this week, that a new "Superior super servo" wouldn't fit my '66 casting and there is no other servo upgrade either (the Ford's R-code version, is what I would like to use) for this casting?
I'm not going to blast a 1000HP at it, but I would like a HP-rebuild, with an all-over better performance, capable of handling around 500 HP and mainly street use. (I.E. no transbrake or full manual, but firmer shifts and the lower gearratio as well!)
I got the advice that a '66 casting isn't what you want to have for this kind of a rebuild...
problem is, it's what I have...and living in the netherlands, means; either buy and ship another from the states and do my work on that, or try and do my thing with what I have...guess what I prefer?!
grtz,

C6
Is the 66 diff from 67 or 8?. I've run them old C6's in 4000 lbs car in the 11's
2500 lb Falcon 10.20's w/brake. never a problem.
good luck, Ron

so it's mainly that the casing isn't as rigid as the newer years?

well, to be accurate...the C6 casting code starts with: C6...

no, seriously! It does!
so it's a 1966 casting, not any younger than that!
