clutch flight tranny
does anyone remember the clutch flight tranny, the poor mans lenco? it is a 727 mopar automatic tranny with the front sawed off and a clutch added on the front. you launch with the clutch in 1st and push button or manually shift 2nd and 3rd with no clutch. i have been given my fathers 48 anglia gasser drag car. it is a basket case that he has sat on for 30 years. i have all the good nastalgia parts. straight axel front end with the haldibrand rims, front and rear, original moon spun aluminum fuel cell, 427 motor with the clutch flight tranny. it is the B&M model. there was no bell housing. i have contacted a couple performance tranny shops and B&M with no answer on locating a bell housing to mate up to a chevy motor or anyone willing to freshen it up. i also need to know what type clutches and presure plate to use in this application. i know they have a weak link, that is the 1 inch input shaft but i want to restore it to its original gasser form and this tranny is a major part of this restoation. any thoughts, personal experiences, or links to sites with info on this would be greatly appreciated.
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
