As I want to replace the 200 I6 in my '67 Falcon Futura with the Cruisomatic 3spd auto. I want to keep the trans because of drive shaft length complications and a few other things. My perdiciment is, I see the shift linkage seems to be supported by a rod that protrudes from the motor itself and works like a piviot for the shift linkage, What do I do with the shift linkage to make it work if I were to put a 300 I6 or 302 V8 in place of it? Thanks in advance
Matt, the rod coming from the carb to the trans is the kick down linkage, not the shift linkage, just for your info.
Matt, there was a similar bolt-on arrangement on my 429/C6. Check a 300-6 in a boneyard or maybe somebody has a pickup with a 300-6/auto that you could look at to see if the same arrangement was used. If not, it shouldn't be any big problem that a little scrap steel and a welder can't fix. Adapt, adapt, adapt.
Heres a pic of the shift linkage, where it is supported at the engine by the rod. If the new motor has no shift linkage support, where do I weld a new 1?Quote:

Whoops, here it is.
I was just On Ebay and I looked at a listing for a 240 and auto trans that came from a '69 F100, it looked like it did have the support rod on the engine. I would buy it but it's 6 houres 1 way from where I live. The 100 dollar buy it now price does sound good tho.
I dont think a 240/300 will bolt in your falcon and it definately wont bolt to your original trans as I think it has a different bolt pattern,the 240/300 sixes might be a little longer and might not fit in the engine compartment without a bunch of work, If you want a little bigger six a 250 from a maverick should bolt in but you would need the trans that came with it as I heard the 250 has the same bolt pattern as the 6 bolt smallblocks,it would be easier to find a 302 and C-4 to drop in it and I would not worry about the driveshaft as one could be found at a junkyard that should work or a driveshaft shop will be able to make one easily. Would the mounts for the 200 I have work for the 302. I know where there is a car with a 302 I could probably get cheap. Going to the Junk yard, how do I pick out possible D shaft donors? if I went to an invintoried yard, might they have measurements for shafts?Quote:
