Transmission Kick Down Cable Adjustment
This is my very first project and I wish I would just kept my straight six 235 . I would like to ask a question about the cable from the transmission to the carb linkage. I bought the rebuilt turbo 350 about five years ago and installed in on a chevy 327. I dont know what suprises to expect so i would like to be prepared for any. I have very little info. on the transmission history accept that it has a shift kit and it was rebuilt. How do i go about setting the correct tension on the kickdown cable.

Set the cable so that when the throttle is wide open the cable is fully extended.
The easiest way to adjust the cable is with 2 people. One inside the veh with their foot on the gas, all of the way down. The other person releases the cable adjustmnent, and locks it when the gas pedal is at the floor. Trying to adjust it by yourself under the hood may give you an improper adjustment as far as kick-down is concerned. This is because many times the gas pedal does not actually push the linkage as far open as you can by hand. It will only take a few seconds that way.

No problem. We are all here to help each other out if we can. There are some really nice folks on this forum. Just dont be afraid to ask the "dumb" question.
Dammit, another good ol boy gone. Condolence to the family. RIP Mike
