Tranny questions
I've got my engine and tranny out of my '31 Model A - it's a 302 with a C4. I've never messed with a tranny much and my question is about a few things that I want to make sure I take care, as the tranny has been leaking. My main reason for pulling the engine and tranny is to clean them up, make sure they're leak free and then dress them up with some polished aluminum and chrome "goodies".
One question I have is regarding the speedometer cable. It would appear some of the fluid leak may be coming form this area. Now I've pulled out the cable, and there is obvoiusly an O-ring where the cable end plugs in to the tranny - and I'll definitely replace that. What seals the rest of the assembly - where the cable transitions from the calbe in to the gear. I've gotta believe this may be one other place where it ccould potentially leak, but am not positive.
The next question is what are the other major places where I should possibly replace something, as it's hard to determine where some of it's coming from. The pan was definitely the bigges culprit and the seal where the drive shaft goes in looks nice and dry.
The next question is regarding the tranny dip stick. Obviously it's pretty tight in the '31 and the tranny dip stick is not accessible unless you force things. This was like this when I bought it, but I'm thinking someone makes custom tranny dip sticks that are longer - any thoughts out there? I definitely can't put it back the way I found it.
Again, my main goal is to get the engine and tranny "prettied up" and get them back in drip free.
Thanks,

On a bitterly cold winter morning a husband and wife were listening to the radio during breakfast. They heard the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today. You must park...
