    th350 gusher

hey guys, my bud just had a "friend" rebuild his th350. now it drives forward and reverse like it should, but tranny fluid flows out of the vent tube, the harder you rev it, the harder it flows out. the only checking we've done so far is to make sure all the checkballs are where they are suppossed to be and they are, and he doesnt have too much fluid it. thanks

Sounds a bit like the valve body is not aligned up or loose in the case, either wayyou have pressurised fluid venting directly into the pan and pushing fluid out the vent tube.

check and make sure the breather is open, and if for some reason water could haven gotten into the trans, if there is any water in the trans it gonna boil it out of the dip stick. some people wash their parts off with water and get more into the conv. than they realize, if you let it run it will eventually boil all of the water out. if it locks up in gear i dont see how you could have a pressure leak. filter might be to close to the pan. hope this helps

is it coming out under a lot of pressure ? is it study or in sperts? is it formie? plug the breather pipe and see if it will come out of the dip stick tube. its not but a few things that will make it do that and they are, no vent, internal pressure leak, boiling over from water or not cooling like it should. what kind of cooler do you have?

just the stock inside radiator cooler.

it shouldnt be from boiling(but i could be wrong) because you can get it to it immediately after starting the vehicle cold. in gear with the brakes applied once you are at maybe quarter throttle it starts coming out, the more throttle you give it, the pressure it comes out with. you can make it come out in nuetral, but you really have to lay on the throttle, and just like in gear, the more gas you give it, the more pressure the leak has. he has a twenty foot stretch of driveway between the truck and the road with about a 35 degree incline, and if you just say screw it and try to drive it, by the time you are on the road, it is just dumping out like you wouldnt beleive. theres plenty of fluid, but not too much, it surely cant be gettting hot that quick, and the valve body bolts are tight, the checkballs are in the correct posistion according to the manual. and like i said earlier, if the leak wasnt there, it drives like normal. i am really lost

wish i could help you more, but ive built a lot of trans over the yrs and ive had 4 to pump fluid out of the trans, one from the cooler line to close to the header, once with to much water in it and once the filter was stoped up and once the breather was pluged and it blew the fluid out of the dip stick. did you put the gasket back behind the front pump? or the pump gasket installed wrong. take the cooler line loose at the rad. and see if the pump is getting fluid up to it. stick the line in a bucket, shouldnt be but a little pressure on it. it dont take but a min. to boil over if its not cooling.
