I am building a rat rod roadster/racer with a 1954 packard straight 8 motor (weird!!) and I need help to figure out what transmission I can hook up I've got plenty of options aka "shop scraps" as far as parts go. i just need opinions and info. anything and everything is appreciated.

Elliot, no disrespect intended, but if you're going to cobble up a car like we did when I was a kid, you're going to be expected to cobble up your own adapter.
There is an off-chance that an early 60's Studebaker Borg Warner 4-speed and bellhousing or a Stude automatic could be made to work, since Studebaker and Packard were in bed together.
The '56 Stude Golden Hawk used a 352 Packard V8, but I don't know which transmission they used, Stude or Packard.
If all your stars are lined up, maybe the Stude and the '54 Packard used the same bellhousing pattern.
