What input sprag in a th 700?
Yes, it's me again,
you've been helping me a lot these days, I hope someday I can help the next generation of trans-builders
I'm just rebuilding a TH 700 R4, built in 83. I have a second one which I'm using parts from (my band-drum was badly worn, for example...) And now I have 2 different front sprag assemblies: one 26 element with larger elements and a yellow sheet steel washer top and bottom and a 29 element sprag, which has a machined steel plate top and bottom. Which one would be better? They both seem to be in good shape (not worn or lose) but which one is stronger (for heavy duty, not for race)?
The 26 looks stronger because the elements are bigger, but I've heard of "HD 29 element sprag assemblies", too.
Thanks,
MadHarharhar...

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
